The evening is getting on as the club Charon's DJ fun was already done. The aircab brought both men up to Royal's office in good time. Once they are inside the office, Kagami is already over to the kitchenette washing his face from his lovely spit up display. His suit still looks good even though that are a few wrinkles now. His shoes, as always, were left at the door. His socks while appearing white without shoes on, they were actually patterned sports socks. He wipes his face down and pats it with the towel.

"I'm not sure I'd call that a successful evening, but we certainly have a few new puzzle pieces," says Royal. He was fairly quiet on the ride over. The stack that Mary slipped into his pocket has been weighing heavily. He notably, does not take his shoes off. "Do you want to wash up in the proper bathroom?" he asks, gesturing towards the wall that will slide aside to reveal the rest of his flat.

Kagami grins a little and turns around. "Well… other than…" He lifts his arm and sniffs. "Yeah no I am good." He walks over to Royal and pulls out the real one. He frowns a little. "What if they loaded something onto the stack? While broken it can probably still hold a small amount of data. Also have you seen that DJ before? What DJ runs one set and leaves? It's usually three or four. They were clearly watching us."

* * *

"Yes, maybe the proliferation of broken stacks startled them. I'm not certain…" Royal pulls out the fake stack. When he holds it up to the real one, the differences are obvious. He obviously has a very good eye to have spotted the difference in a dark club, though.

The chain the stack is draped on is lighter and looks more decorative rather than the more industrial chain on Kagami's. Some of the fine details on the fake stack don't look right. "…I don't think this is actually a stack. I think it's a cast of one. Which would make sense. The material in stacks can be salvaged, and it's not exactly cheap." Alien components and all.

* * *

Kagami glances between the two and then holds one in one hand and takes the fake to hold in his other. He holds it up like a weight. "Their weights are different too." He hands the real one over to Royal while he examines the fake. "You are really amazing noticing these details." He plays with it in his hand, not even looking up to Royal. "We have a lead though. Also some idiot is selling fake stacks."

* * *

Royal walks over to his desk and shrugs off his jacket. He drapes it neatly over the arm of one of the chairs, then sets the real stack down on the surface of his desk. A panel glows beneath it, activating a scanner. Then a screen illuminates midair, showing a 3-D scan of the object. "Yours is definitely real, though I see no evidence there was an active DHF on it when it was broke. So at least we aren't dealing with the real death of hundreds of stacks." He frowns deeply.

Kag turns and walks over to the desk. He puts the fake one down and looks at the stack. "If all of the people can be believed that they truly got a stack not one of those fake ones." He grumbles quietly. He walks around and sits in Royal's seat before his fingers start moving and he's investigating the real stack. His eyes focus on it and it's clear he's really in his element looking at stuff like this.

* * *

Royal leans over Kagami's shoulder, watching the line of code, and the scans that it makes of the stack. From the micro-twitches of the muscles in his face, he does actually understand some of what's happening. Pattern recognition makes up for a lack of practical knowledge.

What the scans tell Kagami is that a DHF was emptied from the stack because of a critical flaw in the stack itself. There is, in fact, evidence of corrosion along the base.

* * *

Kagami frowns and leans back. He turns his face a little and looks up at Royal. "The stack is damaged in coding. Corrosion along here…" He points to the base. "The DHF was removed but still…flawing." He rubs his face and frowns. "So this is the same thing that was in the Aubergine." He brings his knee up and hugs it. "That…that is a threat."

* * *

Royal's lips purse into a thin line. "This…" he makes a soft noise. "I think I need another drink. How about you, my dear?" He straightens and squeezes Kagami's shoulder. "By the way, well-done on the fake vomit. Wouldn't have been my strategy, but it worked a treat."

* * *

Kagami feels the man on his shoulder and nods his head. He spins out of the chair. "Yes. I need a drink." He grins a little at the fake vomit. "Well I had a few options. I thought I could squeeze between you two and try to order a drink but that might not have stopped her. I though of being that touchy drunk friend but that would embarrass you so I thought, hey, club soda doesn't ruin a dress and I can just embarrass myself." He shrugs. "It was the best course of action."
* * *

Royal reaches up. If he's not stopped, he runs his hands through Kagami's hair to arrange it into a style that befits the suit. "What made you choose this ensemble? Please tell me you're not trying to learn from my example. I did tell you that was a rather bad idea." He corners a gaze back to the scan, and the implications make him tense up. He smiles to try and cover up the discomfort.

* * *

Kagami's eyes close as he enjoy's the suit. "I thought you'd like it…" He speaks softly. Though when his eyes open he sees the gaze and he turns to look at the scan. "Shook me in the stack, I won't feel pain. Stab me in the stack, I won't feel it. That though… that though is feeling yourself slipping away as you are deleted." His voice trying to be calm. "I was alright until that."

* * *

With the stylish jacket off, Royal looks quite casual in the mottled gray t-shirt and the black trousers with stylish matte black high tops. It really doesn't suit him. The jacket at least, lent a fashionable edge and some tailoring. "I suppose our question is, do we try and find whoever made and distributed the fake stacks, or chase down the real ones? One of those options is decidedly less dangerous than the other."

* * *

Kagami lifts his hands up and unbuttons his jacket. He slides it off and moves over to drape it on a chair. "The faker is an idiot but they aren't a danger. We need to go after the real ones." His voice firm. "Danger means nothing when this … corrosion virus is out there. We are all in danger. Getting to them faster means less death."

* * *

"But perhaps the faker doesn't quite realize how dangerous it is to be playing with these people," says Royal as he places his palm on the section of the door that slides open to reveal his flat. Like before, the lights slowly pop on to reveal the cavernous room. "What would you like to drink, then? And tell me if you plan on shooting it this time, hmm?"

* * *

Kagami takes a deep breath. "They could be a target already so stopping those people will save them too." He points out to Royal. "The faster we take the person behind this down…even those fakers will be saved." He watches the flat be revealed and he waits for Royal to enter before he does. "I will take a shot of anything and then a drink to sip." He grumbles.
